Your guide to successful contact lens wear
Always wash and dry your hands before handling your contact lenses.
And remember: contact lenses are not to be shared.
Lens insertion
1. |
For each eye, ensure the lens is not inside out. Place
the lens on your index finger to verify the shape (Figures
1 & 2). |
2. |
Using your other hand’s index and second finger,
hold up your upper lid. Use your third finger to hold your
lower lid down. Place the lens on to your eye (Figure 3).
Repeat the procedure for your other eye. |

Lens removal
Look up and hold down your lower lid. Gently slide the lens down
on to the white of your eye before pinching the lens and lifting
it out with the pads of your index finger and thumb (Figure 4).
Repeat the procedure for your other eye.
Disinfection / Soaking
Clean and disinfect your lenses strictly following the instructions
on the bottle of your contact lens solution bottle or as directed
by your eye care practitioner.
Storage
Always replace your lens case every 4 weeks to reduce the risk
of contamination and eye infection. If you store your lenses for
more than 30 days in your lens case, you will need to disinfect
them again prior to insertion in your eyes.
If your lenses dry out
Re-wet with a contact lens rewetting product or multi-purpose solution,
then follow the disinfection/soaking step above.

Precautions
1. |
Soft contact lenses are designed for frequent replacement.
Your eye care practitioner will recommend a suitable cleaning
regime and a replacement regime. If in doubt, seek the advice
of your eye care practitioner. |
2. |
Always clean and disinfect your lenses as instructed. |
3. |
If your eyes become red or irritated or you experience
any pain, remove your lenses immediately and consult your
eye care practitioner. |
4. |
Avoid contaminating your lenses with make-up, aerosol sprays
or by wearing them near noxious fumes. |
5. |
Replace damaged, contaminated or scratched lenses immediately.
|
6. |
Avoid long nails, which harbour bacteria. A scratched eye
is vulnerable to infection. |
7. |
Keep your lenses and contact lens care products out of
reach of children. |
